Juan Pineda

(Voice, Acting, Piano, guitar) has been teaching for more than 20 years. He is a Broadway veteran, international artist, and proud member of Actor’s Equity Association. Mr. Pineda is co-founder of the Little Opera Company and Pineda Conservatory and worked at the Union County Performing Arts High School directing shows and teaching musical theatre. He has directed, recorded, and taught voice, acting, and musical theatre throughout New York and New Jersey Metropolitan area. He and his family moved to Richmond, Va several years ago to help take care of his parents. Mr. Pineda is the worship & music director at Powhatan UMC and has continued to teach voice and acting lessons out of his private studio, teaching all ages from amateur to professional. He has also worked with the show choirs at Clover Hill High School and Powhatan High School as a voice teacher, and also at St. Catherines, directing the middle and high school choirs covering a maternity leave. Mr. Pineda has performed in Avery Fischer Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Public Theater, and at The Broadway Theater, where he played “Thuy” in the Broadway production of Miss Saigon. He has also performed many other roles in productions such as The King & I, L’Elisir d’amore, Cavelleria Rusticana, Babes in Toyland and Turandot to name a few.

Valerie Pineda

(Voice) moved to Richmond in 2018 and is thrilled to share her love of all styles of music with the community of Richmond.  In New Jersey she was co-founder and Director of the Pineda Conservatory and Executive Director of the Pineda Lyric Opera Company.  With these nonprofits,  over 1,000 teens participated in a tuition free opera program and youth from throughout NJ participated in theater classes and performances with professional area artists.  She has been acknowledged by the NJ State Council for the Arts for her outstanding contributions to music in arts education. With the NJ Workshop for the Arts, Ms. Pineda worked as musical director and conductor for numerous musicals and taught at the Union County Performing Arts High School for 7 years. She has directed, produced, musical-directed, and taught voice throughout New York and New Jersey. As a soprano, Ms. Pineda is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and also studied at the Boston Conservatory. She has soloed in Boston Symphony Hall, and PNC Arts Center and appeared with many regional opera companies. Ms. Pineda is a registered NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) voice instructor. She currently teaches in Richmond and is also the Music Director at Welborne UMC.
